It has only been 3 weeks since we learned about our call to Africa West Area. The "to do" list has been long but we have made great progress. Leading the way was getting passports renewed, deciding what to do with our home in Dallas - leaving it with a property manager to lease, arranging for moving our household goods, getting a series of seven shots to include typical boosters for standard diseases but also Typhoid, Meningococcal Meningitis and Yellow Fever and submitting our application for Visa to travel.
A week after we got our call letter we spent with family for Thanksgiving. That turned out to be very interesting as we learned while in Utah that we have been requested to travel 7 weeks earlier than our initial date - Feb 28th. That has really turned up the heat as we have had to run a bit faster now. In addition we will no longer be spending a week in the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah as the training we need is not taught in the MTC so we will be getting it via OJT (on the job training).
Yesterday was a big date for us - we sold Stephaney's SUV. So now we are down to one car. That will be next in about 3 weeks. We still have a number of things to do - tax preparer, power of attorney, packing household goods and packing for travel, etc. but the big ones are pretty much completed. The Visa will take about 4 weeks to get back which will be the only thing that would hold us back from going Jan 10. Its going to be tight but we are well on our way. Stay tuned.
Wonderful Family Pictures! As you know, they will be so blessed for your willingness to serve in building up the Kingdom in Africa! Good Luck!
