Men fishing & Fishers of men…

The other day we took a trip to Tema taking the coastal route instead of the Tema Motorway. On the way we got some pictures but the scene that was the most intriguing was that of the men pulling in the fish nets with the catch of the day.

This Sunday we took the new Family History specialist couple to the MTC to instruct the missionaries on family history and collect their pedigree charts so that temple ordinance cards could be filled out for their visit later in the week. The numbers don’t come close to matching those of the Provo MTC, nonetheless they are indeed very special young men and young women doing a mighty work and following the admonition of Jesus to Peter when he called him to be a “fisher of men.”

Besides serving our Africa West Area missions, any African areas that speak French also come here like Democratic Republic of Congo and Madagascar. Accra MTC is the only MTC in Africa that also teaches in French. French language is not taught, as those going to French speaking countries already speak French. If non-Africans come to a French speaking mission they go to an MTC elsewhere where French is taught, primarily the Provo MTC.

When we go the MTC they always feed us well! Here we are with the current AWA Family History couple. Like every MTC, they put a few pounds on the missionaries before the go out and have to cook for themselves!
